Redirection from https to http

Web browser checks the availability of SSL-certificate before the redirect happens. Thus, if you don’t have an active SSL-certificate issued by the certification center, website visitors will see a browser warning about an unprotected content before redirection even happens.

  1. open the hosting control panel or connect to the hosting via FTP;
  2. proceed to the website directory;
  3. open .htaccess (or create it, if it does not exist yet). Add the following lines to the file:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^443$ [OR]
    RewriteCond %{HTTPS} =on
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$
    http://site.com/$1 [R=301,L]

    where site.com is your domain name.
